A Life in X-isle

X-isle has been around since the early 90s, and although it has moved locations four times, countless stories have passed through its doors. I still remember the first store, situated on a quiet street opposite a rowdy bar.

One evening, a friend helped me lay the entire floor from pallet wood that we had "procured" from the local industrial estates in the area. Even the hangers were made of the same stuff. We worked tirelessly through the night, and as the first light of dawn crept in, we opened the door to let in some fresh air. It was only then that we realized our mistake - we had assumed the door would open outwards - Nope! -  it was totally jammed against the floor.

We ended up solving the problem by removing the door and cutting a couple of inches off the bottom.

The floor ultimately got taken, but the door remained a little too short. I  still remember opening up one morning and coming face to face with a well-fed squirrel, but that's a story for another day. Despite the mishap, X-isle has continued to thrive, and I feel fortunate to have witnessed so many great stories within its walls.
